Joining our Freemasons Lodge explained in 5 easy steps

We would be more than happy to discuss Freemasonry with you.

We encourage you to ask questions about joining our Fraternity. It is important that we get to know you, and for you to get to know us.

Our Lodge Membership Officer, (LMO), will make contact with you to guide you through the process.

We would invite you along to the Guide Hall in Cobham for members to find out a bit more about you.

The interview process

Don’t be put off by the word interview! This is nothing more than a few of the senior members of the lodge, or the lodge committee, inviting you along to the Guide Hall in Cobham or Glenmore House, Surbiton for us to find out a bit more about you.

At this stage, it is likely your proposer and seconder will be present along with the LMO with whom, by now, you would have formed a bond.

On success of your interview your application will then be presented and read out at the next lodge meeting.

The open ballot at a lodge meeting

On the day of initiation into Freemasonry your application will be read out once more and presented to the lodge members. All those present will then be entitled to cast a private vote for your membership. On success of the ballot you wil be initiated into Freemasonry.

Your initiation into Freemasonry

This is a very special day in any Freemasons journey. You will be initiated to the degree of an Entered Apprentice and welcomed into Coveham Freemasons Lodge.

Prior to your initiation the LMO, your proposer, and seconder will inform you of the costs for joining, dining, and the attire to wear which is usually a black suit and black tie.

Your journey has just begun!

Freemasonry does require commitment and will take up some of your free time for the four meeting each year and additional time to learn about Freemasonry at our Lodge of Instruction, or L of I as it is commonly known.

As you progess you will attain the degrees of Fellow Craft and Master Mason.
